Ok, so I'm so pumped there is activity in here, I'm throwing not one, but TWO questions at the wall to see what sticks. This one is a little more involved than my usual stuff.
I've gone with Brett Favre basically all year, and he has been (obviously) disappointing. Now, I should point out I drafted Brees, then traded him for Cutler (and got something extra in the deal), then traded Cutler for Rivers (with a little something extra), then Rivers for Favre (with a Plaxico Burress bonus thrown in). So it's not like I didn't see some benefit elsewhere. But outside of last week and the 6td game, he's been a real disappointment.
So, for the past 3 weeks it's been do or die for me as I started off the season terribly. Unbelievably, I've worked my way back to 1 game under .500, and the division leader is just 6-5. So this week is again a virtual playoff game for me and Favre is sticking out like a sore thumb. He's playing one of the top defenses in the league and I'm worried. To make matters worse (or better, depending on your point of view), a bunch of guys in my league have dumped qb's in order to make emergency pickups. So, right now I could scoop from the waiver wire the following:
Pennington
Flacco
Collins
Bulger
Fitzpatrick
Hill
Rosenfels, or
Hasselbeck (who I dropped to pick up dustin keller in case winslow can't go)
This is insane!
My issue is that I don't know who I'd drop that wouldn't end up hurting me. I think Fargas is low man on the totem pole (we have 2 keeper picks each year, 2 year contracts), but he is still the clear starter in oakland and i don't like the idea of dropping him so that someone can plug him right into their lineup, especially with things being so tight at rb in my league (one of the reasons so many qbs are available--many in our league are rolling with only 1 qb, given our 16 man roster limit).
So what would you guys do? Thanks in advance for your thoughtful comments, fellas.

How do I solve my QB dilemma
Dump favre and grab a waiver wire guy
Suck it up and live with him this week, you'll be glad you did
Stop deluding yourself, this is not your year. Why do you even care??

I think I would stick it out with Favre to avoid putting Fargas on the waiver, but if you must, I feel Collins on a winning team with the matchup against the terrible Jets passing D is the best pickup out of the group.
Assuming you'd put Fargas on the WW over McFadden due to keeper potential or think he's going to regain starting position whenever his turf toe heals? PPR, 1 pt 10 RuReYd, 1 pt 25 PaYd, 6 pt Ru/ReTD, 4 pt PaTD, 2 pt 2 pt conversion (Pa/Ru/Re)

McFadden was initially my 'lock' keeper (addai is in his second year so i have to let him go). then, i traded for slaton, who i actually like a bit more than mcfadden--maybe because he doesn't play in al davis' house of shame? a little early for the keeper discussion, but as i look at my roster right now, i keep both of those guys. and, i do think mcfadden ends up starting if he's healthy. you agree? Yes agree that McFadden starts again when healthy. Don't know how much that really means when you play for Oakland, but he'll be starting there, could be helpful come playoffs if you make it. Also like Slaton...a lot, but then again, I've liked a couple of the Denver RB's and well, they're all on IR now!
I'd stick it out with Favre, he's got matchups coming against Denver, SanFran, and Seattle which could(should) lead to good stats. And I just noticed that I apparently missed Chad on your list, I think I like him down the stretch more than Collins. I'm not sure if you're looking for a one week replacement while Favre plays the tough Titan D (doesn't sound like that's all you want). For this week, I think Collins is your best option. For the stretch, I think I would go with either Pennington or Favre, leaning towards Favre. PPR, 1 pt 10 RuReYd, 1 pt 25 PaYd, 6 pt Ru/ReTD, 4 pt PaTD, 2 pt 2 pt conversion (Pa/Ru/Re)

Unless you get an upgrade via trade. I'd ride Favre too. At least with Cotchery, Coles, Keller, and TJ he has several options to thow away from Finnegan.

I'd stick with Favre too.
He is either going to have a crazy good game (300+ yards and 3 scores) or a clunker (200 yards, 1 TD/3 ints).....but the only guys out there that I consider decent enough to replace him for the season are Flacco, Hasselbeck and Pennington. Out of all of them, the only one with enough upside for me to consider over Favre long-term is Hasselbeck. If I wee to drop a player of yours to pick up a QB I would drop Hillis way before Fargas (don't trust Shanahan and Hillis' yardage stinks...he only looks good since he had some close scores). If you really feel the need to replace Favre this week, I'd scoop Pennington up and drop Hillis. Pennington does not provide you the long-term answer that Hasselbeck does, but he is healthier and has a better matchup. I'd probably roll with Favre, but I could justify dropping Hillis for Pennington and starting Pennington as well. |

No way would I drop Favre. I'd only make a QB addition if I had roster room and you don't. I wouldn't clear one of your roster spots just to play the weekly match-up QB game. I like the trade angle....work the deadline.. :)
