According to the NFL.com Gamecenter, Denver's fullback had 5 tackles and 1 assist...
Anyone watch the game and can confirm that this actually happened or is this just a really bad error on their part?

Wow. While I didn't see the game, here's a blurb from the recap on nfl.com
. Spencer Larsen started at both middle linebacker and fullback, the first player in team history to pull off that double. I know the Broncos haven't been high on Koutivides, and they brought Mario Hagan in 12 days ago, and were giving him snaps at MLB in practice.... But WOW. We talked about this on Goal Line Stand the other night, and my feelings then were how unimpressive Koutivides has been, that Denver all but handed the guy the starting Mike job in the offseason, and then were looking at a FA pickup to start ahead of him. But this is even more condemning. How in the hell did he get beat out by the guy starting at FB???? |

I watched the game, they said it's the first time a player started on both sides of the ball in 5 years.
He didn't look bad, but not particularly impressive either. Oh and Shanny kept it hidden pretty well, they said he had him only play offense while reporters watched and defense after they were gone. |

Gutsy call but it seems to have worked for them this week.
I was thinking the same thing about Koutivides about how bad he must be to have them play the FB at MLB... So what are Larsen's prospects for the upcoming weeks? |

The problem though is I just can't figure out what Shanny's planning on doing there. Larsen didn't impress me this week, but I didn't see him really miss a play either. I'd probably bet against him starting at MLB again next week but trying to guess on Shanny is almost always just that a complete guess. I guess it really boils down to if the Broncs are in more trouble at RB or LB. If you're in a league with a deep enough bench I don't think grabbing him would be a bad idea, and then just hope some actual concrete news comes out later in the week. |

He's done it to us for years with Running Backs, now it looks like Shanahan is doing the same to us with his MLB. I do agree w/ Ivnabru, that there is potential there for Larsen to post some good numbers. I liken it to the Dhani Jones situation in Cincinatti. There are tackles to be had, and Larsen is a warm body standing right in the middle of the action.
Like most, I have no clue how this is going to play out, but if you have the room, Larsen is definitely startable if we find out for certain that he will play the Mike until some other players get healthy. |
